Touchdown.....

Well we have landed on the Island. After 4:30am start and 5-hour layover we finally landed in Jamaica, where we were greeted by my good friend Richard Davis. Richard has been driving church groups for about 10 years now. It is a relationship that I look forward to renewing every time I land. After about a 2-hour bus ride we stopped and let the group eat at Jerk Center. A Jerk Center is like a barbeque restaurant. It is an authentic Jamaican experience. We finally arrived at our hotel about 7:00pm, Jamaican time (8:00pm for you, they don’t do daylight savings). Today is Friday June 8 and we will begin the process of getting ready for VBS and await the arrival of the other teams. Please continue to pray for the youth as they adjust to Jamaican heat, lifestyle, people and homesickness. My prayer is change. We all need change. Change only given to us by Jesus who working in us will help us see the world that is beyond our desires to take it for ourselves. Pray we live open.

Thanks

Chris

PS : More to come later

  8. I agree with you Chris! We all need change. I pray that God uses you all to touch lives in Jamaica but also to change each team member's live as well. I know being with a group of people for an extended period can be hard at times, but I pray that things go smoothly and you all come together and united as one. My first day in Antigua was hard, but I found encouragement in Isaiah 41:10 "Don't be afraid for I am with you. Don't be discouraged for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand." To all the team members. Don't be discouraged if you don't see change right away, or feel like you really can't make a difference. I believe that God has each and every one of you on this trip for a reason. I pray that you each grow deeper with him and shine his light to all who come across your path.
    Best wishes from Guatemala,
    Haylie
